Can you feel it in the wind? The days are getting warmer, the sun is shining a little brighter (and longer), it’s time to fully exit winter hibernation mode and hit the sun, sand, skate bowls and surf of this year’s Groundswell Festival!

Groundswell once again takes over Scarborough Beach for three huge days from Friday 30 September until Sunday 2 October, for an action-packed weekend of surf, skate and 3×3 streetball comps; BMX bowl comps and stunt demos; dance battles; street art; food trucks; markets; and loads of free workshops and activities.

That’s barely shredding the surface though, and there’s legit something for everyone at this free festival with the likes of beach volleyball, dodgeball arena, live music and DJs and the return of the popular Tipi Village.

Once again the village will be the home of sustainability and wellness, featuring a program packed with free workshops, ocean dips, yoga, mindful crafts, meditation, ice baths, breath-work, journaling, DIY make-up, perfume creation, hormonal health, coastal clean-ups and all things healthy lifestyle, mind, body and earth.

For the more serious skaters, surfers, BMXers and ballers out there, each discipline will have its own competitions running over the course of the weekend, including:

  • Surf Boardroom’s Surf League Competition
  • Groundswell Surf Comp
  • Groundswell Grind Skate Comp
  • Groundswell Rail Jam
  • Skate clinics
  • 3×3 Streetball Competition
  • BMX Bowl Battle
  • Alcohol. Think Again Beach Volleyball – Kings & Queens Of The Court
  • Freestyle BMX Stunt Demos

While the festival is free to attend, you will need to register for the sporting competitions – head to the Groundswell Festival Registration Page to get amongst it.

It doesn’t have to be all action all the time though – if you’re chasing more of a coastal cruising kinda vibe there’s Groundswell Live showcasing some of WA’s up-and-coming bands; the 78 Hub featuring putt-putt, games, pop-up market stalls, live street art and food trucks; a huge arts program with street artists, live painting and more.

Like we said it’s an absolutely EPIC program, head to the Groundswell Festival Website to find out more, and we’ll see you on the sand next weekend, September 30-October 2.
