Back for its 8th instalment, Groundswell Festival is bringing the good vibes to Scarbs across three massive days of surf, skate, sport and shakas – and it’s free!
Running from the 8th to 10th of October, the Festival will be action-packed, taking place across the Scarborough Beach foreshore – all the way from the shoreline up to the Esplanade. The program is packed, and includes competitions of all varieties to test your skills at, with some epic prizes on offer.
Surfers can register for the Boardroom or Groundswell comps, skaters of every age can get in on Wheelbite 2021, while Saturday will see the Zambrero BMX Bowl Battle. Plus, there’ll be 3X3 streetball for juniors who jump. Get your toes sandy with some beach volleyball, dodgeball or soccer – and jump straight in for a swim after.
If you prefer to take things a little more easy, there’s still heaps on offer. Stop by Tipi Village to get the low down on making sustainable, eco-friendly changes and enjoy some free wellness experiences (think ice baths, yoga, men’s and women’s circles, holistic krumping and more). Or, browse the local sellers, food trucks and free activities on offer at the 78 Festival Hub. There’ll be live street art, plus the festival is run in conjunction with the much-loved Scarborough Sunset Markets: they’ll be operating on Saturday night, so you know there’ll be plenty of tasty treats on offer.
As if that wasn’t enough, there’s Groundswell LIVE – a mini music festival happening inside Groundswell on Saturday thanks to Propel Youth Arts and WAM, with artists like Supathick, Ursula, Hot Sand and Jewel Owusu bringing the tunes throughout the weekend. Click HERE to check out the full lineup!
We’ll have a pretty sweet competition going live on @perthisok.local to really make your weekend extra special, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled! In the meantime, head to the Groundswell website HERE to find out more info on the festival’s program.
