King Charles Won’t Be On The New $5 Note (Neither Will The Queen)
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has announced this morning that the Australian five dollar note will undergo a significant redesign – and it won’t feature a Royal!
In place of the Queen or King’s portrait, the new design will celebrate the rich culture and history of First Australians, while the Australian Parliament will continue to be featured on the other side of the note.
The redesign process is predicted to take a number of years to complete – including consultations with First Australian representatives. During this time, the current five dollar note will continue to be issued.
The announcement of the new design was made following a consultation with and the full support of the federal government.
