Not many up-and-coming bands will get the chance to play on a stage like Optus Stadium – and even fewer will get the chance to open for Coldplay.

As part of their sold out “Music of The Spheres” tour coming to Perth on November 18 and 19, Coldplay will be choosing a local band to kick off each night’s celebrations.

The competition will be open to WA-based bands and musicians, and run by tour promoter Live Nation. To submit your entry you just need to head to the Coldplay website, where you’ll be asked to provide links to your original music, live performances and social media.

As well as the chance to open for the band in front of over 60,000 people, the prize will also include grant funding of up to $15,000 for you to take your band or act to the next level – whether that’s recording, marketing, touring or attending industry events.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get on stage with one of the world’s biggest bands right here at home and show that huge audience what we’re made of,” said Arts Minister David Templeman.

“I know the winners of this exciting competition will use this performance as a springboard to grow their profile and share our fantastic Western Australian music with more of the world.”
