Luna Leederville’s Trash Classics Is Back, Baby (And Trashier Than Ever)
We consider ourselves some pretty high-brow cinephiles, but that doesn’t mean we’re not on board for a bit of trash every now and then! Luckily for us, Trash Classics is making its triumphant return, bringing the spirit of the VHS back to Luna Leederville for another season. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure, after all!
The third season’s program has just launched, and this bad boy is trashier than ever! Kicking off on Friday September 30, the first cult classic out of the gate is the much-maligned at-the-time but now considered a ’90s sci-fi classic, Starship Troopers.
The season will also include a special Halloween screening of John Carpenter’s meta-horror mystery In The Mouth Of Madness, starring the internet’s favourite winemaker and palaeontologist, Sam Neill, followed by Body Double: Brian De Palma’s raunchy follow up to Scarface featuring a very blonde, very mullet-y Melanie Griffith. The final screening for the year will feature The Apple – an absolutely wild disco musical to get you in the festive spirit!
Each screening has the chance to win some unique prizes that’ll have cult movie lovers excited, plus there’ll be some trash-inspired drink specials and snacks at the bar.
Hosted and curated by Tristan Fidler, from RTRFM’s Movie Squad and Luna’s The Room screenings, each screening is sure to be a masterclass of cheesiness, and a communal experience of everything that makes these cult faves so darn watchable!
