If you looked at the header photo of this article and thought to yourself, ‘Great, now giant bugs are here to destroy us all’, well we wouldn’t blame you.
And while it has indeed been one of those years, fortunately while these huge bugs are indeed headed to Perth, we should be pretty safe.
It’s from a new exhibition called Monster Creature World, making its first appearance in Perth early next year.
From January 15-24, the exhibition will feature giant animatronic insects, including a 6m tarantula and 6m scorpion!
The exhibition is aimed at school-aged kids, and will offer a bugs-eye-view of the insect world, along with live reptile and insect exhibits to help educate (and thrill) kids of all ages.
According to the organisers, “Not only are these enormous animatronic insects such fun to examine up close, but we can also learn a lot about their importance in our ecosystem, extreme behaviours and the physical characteristics that allow bugs to thrive and survive.
“School kids and families will experience a bug’s-eye view of their world, explore critter calls, amusement rides a bug train, and participate. A variety of preserved and live reptiles and insects will be on view for close-up inspection. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 10pm, educators will give short insect talks and answer questions. Magnifying glasses and live insects for kids educational activities will be available.”
Tickets go on sale August 5 and start as low as $12 for kids with cheaper early bird/group options, and will include:
1. Walk through a display of animatronic and static gigantic creepy crawlies.
2. Jumping Castle.
3. Bug Colouring.
4. Reptile Display.
5. Reptile Show.
