Iconic Mount Hawthorn drinking hole the Paddington Ale House has changed owners for the first time in over 40 years.

First opened in 1932, the historic pub will officially change hands in April – but don’t panic, they’ll still continue trading as usual in the meantime.

So, who are the new owners? ARK Group are a WA-based, family-owned hospitality group who have been developing and rejuvenating pubs for over 45 years. Other venues in their roster include popular Scarborough spots The Peach Pit, the Galway Hooker and Scarborough Beach Bar, bustling after-work favourite Market Grounds, and Shafto Lane pubs the Generous Squire and Durty Nelly’s. As well as this, the group are currently in the process of restoring the (also historic) Bassendean Hotel, which is due to reopen this year.

“The Paddo is the cornerstone hotel of Mount Hawthorn and we’re proud to take on the custodian role of a pub with such a rich history dating back to the 1930’s,” said Adam Kapinkoff, ARK Group General Manager.

With Mount Hawthorn’s dining options better than ever, the pub will be revitalised later this year with a focus on community, family and food.

“Mount Hawthorn is a vibrant place to be, with an impressive line-up of restaurants, cafes and retail outlets – we’re looking forward to playing a role in this community and offering them a local everyone can enjoy.”
