Following enjoying some relatively mild weather last week Perth’s regular summer programming will return this week, with temperatures up and around 40 until Saturday.

According to the Bureau Of Meteorology, we’re looking at 38 and 39 degree days from Tuesday to Friday, before tapering off slightly Saturday (37) and Sunday (33).

Winds are expected to strong and from the east/northeast in the mornings, before shifting light south/southwesterly later in the day.

Our metro heatwave follows on from areas of northern Western Australia recording temperatures over 50.7C, including the town of Onslow, 100km north of Exmouth, last Thursday.

That reading was the hottest Australian day on record, topping 50.5C in the same area back in the 60s.

Indeed to the surprise of no one, after a relatively mild start to summer it’s shaping up to be another scorching couple of months.
