We’ve been lucky enough to get some pretty huge musical acts to our shores in recent years – but our local Perth musicians are world-class.

It’s a tough time out there for homegrown talent – so any kind of support is worth its weight in gold!

Now in its third year, RAC Arena’s Limelight support fund offers financial, performance and promotion opportunities to one lucky winning act over a 12 month period.

Limelight is presented by RAC Arena and supported by West Australian Music (WAM), with a main prize valued at over $20,000 and two runner up packages valued at $3,000 each.

The main prize package includes:

  • $5,000 financial assistance
  • Radio campaign thanks to Nova Entertainment
  • Music equipment thanks to Kosmic
  • Recording studio time and rehearsal space thanks to Vision Studios
  • Inclusion in the WAMFest 2025 line-up
  • Promotional support via RAC Arena’s marketing channels

Winners will be determined by a panel of local and national industry pros – including Michael Scott (RAC Arena General Manager), Kristina West (WAM Board Member), Hayley Ayres (360 Artist Logistics), Pamela Boland (RTRFM producer and presenter), and Kam Dheda (General Manager of Touring for TEG Dainty, ANZ and Asia).

The inaugural Limelight winners in 2022 were local outfit Altar Boy, with Angie Colman receiving last year’s prize.

“Working with the RAC Arena has been one of the coolest and most exciting experiences of my career so far,” said Colman, pictured below with runners-up Those Who Dream and Riley Pearce.

“The Limelight grant covered my expenses to press my first vinyl, which was so exciting and I’m so grateful for their support and commitment to Western Australian music. I was lucky enough to play at the Arena for Telethon also which was so much fun and a big step for me to be a part of such a massive event.”

“Alongside the vinyl pressing, the Arena also provided me with loads of PR and media opportunities, documented the making of my EP’s, promoted my music and shows on their social media, and invited me to represent the Arena at events. It’s been an amazing year and I can’t wait to see who works with them next year! Best of luck to all the entrants!”

Emerging WA musicians 18 and over can apply from now until 9AM AWST on November 25, detailing their goals for 2025 and how the fund will help achieve the outcome, with the winners being announced early December.
