Whether you’re a Kelly Slater-like pro-level surfer or just love having a bash around in the white water from time to time, we’ve got some very fun and very exciting news for you.

Red Bull is bringing their world first participatory soft board surf series, Red Bull Foam Wreckers, to Australian shores for the first time ever, kicking off in Margaret River this Saturday 18 December.

Having already been a huge hit on the shores of Kauai Hawaii, Santa Cruz California, Oahu Hawaii and Cocoa Beach Florida, it’ll hit Margaret River Mouth this Saturday for an epic day of fun in the sun.

WA pro’s Flick Palmateer and Taj Burrow will be there for you to test your wares against, but really it’s about having a laugh and getting wet.

“The whole soft board movement is heaps of fun, and the relatability of people surfing carefree is so appealing,” says professional surfer Jamie O’Brien. “I feel like Red Bull Foam Wreckers is one of the coolest contests in the world, because anybody could win. It’s not about how good you are, it’s about how much fun you’re having and how creative you can be.”

How it works is pretty simple – before your heat you spin the “Wheel Of Shred” to determine which board you’ll be riding, before paddling out with 6-10 others and staking your claim as the most unique soft-board surfer in a 15 minute heat.

And if you’re not a pro don’t worry that’s half the fun – catch as many waves as you like and ride them however you want – the goal here is FUN.
