Set The Alarm: RTRFM’s Radiothon Kicks Off Friday Morning With Mimosas At The Bird!

We make no secret of our love for RTRFM – Perth’s very own community radio station where many of our most celebrated musical artists got their start.

Radiothon, RTRFM’s annual subscription drive, is kicking off this week – and they’re putting on some epic parties to celebrate a whopping 45 years on-air and raise essential funds to keep them broadcasting for many years to come.

Make sure you subscribe to your favourite show between August 5th and 14th for your chance to win some super fun prizes, as well as enjoy all the sweet, sweet discounts you get with an RTRFM subscription – not just to RTRFM gigs but a whole heap of local businesses.

“We wouldn’t have been able to stick around for 45 years without the ongoing support of our awesome community,” says RTRFM General Manager Simon Miraudo. “That’s why we call upon our listeners for their subscriptions and donations during an annual Radiothon: so we can keep sharing alternative music, platforming local voices and putting on the live events you love.”

“Subscriptions are as affordable as $30 for Concession, while a Gold subscription at $180 gets you free access to all our events. And every cent goes towards keeping RTRFM on the air.”

To kick things off properly make sure you get an early night and set your alarms nice and early this Friday, because you won’t want to miss the Early Bird party! And where else could an Early Bird party take place than of course, The Bird?

“I’m looking forward to seeing some smiling (albeit tired) faces bright and early at The Bird to kick off Radiothon in style,” Breakfast host Taylah Strano (pictured below with Premier Mack McGowan) told us.

“There’s something special about ringing in Radiothon with a live brekky show outside of the usual studio with some special guests and lots of warm vibes.”

Broadcasting the station’s flagship program Breakfast With Taylah live from The Bird from 6am ‘til 9am, head into the Northbridge for a cheeky pre-work mimosa and get your weekend’s partying started nice and early.

The Radiothon Party on Saturday 5th August will really get the celebrations into full swing, spanning across six Northbridge venues: The Bird, Ezra Pound, The Rechabite Main Hall, Hello Rooftop, Goodwill Club and Astral Weeks.

The lineup is packed with the city’s most exciting performers, from magical folk to raucous punk sounds and DJ sets by Perth’s best selectors.
