Grab the picnic rug and prepare for wholesome vibes – RTRFM is taking over Hyde Park Amphitheatre for 2023’s Neon Picnic: a jam-packed day of live music, kid-friendly entertainment, tasty treats and all-round good times! Best of all? It’s free!

The annual RTRFM fundraiser will take place this year on Saturday, 18 March, with a lush lineup of local artists to delight your ears.

The station will be broadcasting live from the park, with shows Global Rhythm Pot, Homegrown and Drastic on Plastic all featuring special live performances.

Sit back and enjoy the sweet pop stylings of young gun Elianie, who at only 15 years old has become a station favourite, poetic folk musings from Nika Mo, or sweeping alt-pop melodies from Joan and the Giants

Bringing the groove, Kombi-A Train will take you through an irresistible exploration of Andean Cumbia rhythms, or be swept away by the sunny Creole and Maloya Reunionese beats of Salama-Maloya. Plus, make sure to catch the genre-bending, explosive musical stylings of Steve Hensby.

Keep the whole family entertained with kids activities on offer throughout the day, including a LEGO station from the WA Brick Society and a range of arts and crafts.

Normally we’d tell you to pack a picnic, but Wally’s Tacos and Con Pebre will have you sorted for tasty eats – make sure to leave room for a refreshing La Paleta ice cream!

On the drinks front, grab a frothy or two from Otherside Brewing, Roleystone Brewing Company, a delicious drop from Vino Volta or keep fuelled with a coffee from Busy Bean.

Support the station that supports local music by picking up some RTRFM merch while you’re there! They’ll even have a limited edition 45th Anniversary Vinyl Record, which celebrates the station’s massive 45 years of championing local artists.
