Sweet heat relief: Beach umbrella and lounge chair hire kicks off at Scarborough this weekend!

If you were planning on heading to Scarborough beach this weekend (and we get the feeling there are a few of you), we’ve got some good news if you’re coming in via public transport or lacking decent shade.

After being voted in by City of Stirling councillors last year, an equipment hire trial – including beach umbrellas, sun lounges and more – will kick off this weekend.

The equipment hire arrangement is similar to what’s found on Broome’s iconic Cable Beach, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect with the mercury set to hover around 40 for the rest of this week.

They’ll have beach umbrellas and lounge chairs for hire, with an umbrella setting you back $15 and lounge chairs $10 for a half-day, $15 for the whole day.

They’ll also have sunscreen ($10) and towels ($25) available to purchase.
