It’s hard to believe but 2024 will be the 20th anniversary of the iconic Sculpture by the Sea exhibition, which returns to the shores of Cottesloe Beach, from Friday 1-Monday 18 March.

And while the word “iconic” does get bandied around a lot these days, we reckon one of Australia’s largest free public events, regularly attracting over 250,000 visitors each year, is rather befitting of the title.

Next year will see more than 70 artists from 15 countries invited to exhibit at the event, including sculptors from Australia, New Zealand, England, New Zealand, USA and Switzerland, along with 13 from Japan!

Over the journey almost 600 artists form 44 countries have exhibited almost 1,300 sculptures, which makes now a great time to look at back at some of the best since it began back in 2005 with just 25 sculptures.
