Some of Perth’s best vintage hunters have opened a pop up store in Freo
Two of Perth’s best vintage aficionados have joined forces with a new pop up store in Fremantle.
The shop is a collaboration between online vintage dealer The Picker Concept and vintage collective The Upcycling Mutzs.
“The store is very much a collaboration between friends,” The Picker Concept’s Gabby Nuich told us.
“The Upcycling Mutzs are a family run business that was born out of their collective love of all things vintage, and is a passion project alongside their careers working in the community. We became fast friends years ago after we bonded over our mutual adoration for finding amazing vintage pieces, and the shop was an opportunity for us to work together and support each other in our small business dreams.”
“We’re all very passionate about making vintage approachable for everyone and believe every home can embrace secondhand and vintage pieces alongside new, so it was important for us to create a pop up shop that feels like home – where you can see each piece and imagine them in your own space or wardrobe.”
Billed as “your friendly neighbourhood vintage store”, the pop up stocks a selection of vintage furniture, homewares, clothing and curios from the 1950s on, lovingly curated by the vintage finders.
You’ll find everything from sleek chrome coffee tables to kitsch tiki sideboards and gorgeous technicolour glassware, as well as original paintings by Nuich.
“My general rule of thumb for selecting anything for the shop is that it has to be something I love that is good quality and beautiful,” she explained.
“I trust that if I love it someone else is bound to as well! The Upcycling Mutzs are very much the same which is why it’s so nice to be able to share the space with them – we all have different styles and passions, but every piece that comes into the shop is something we each love, so there’s something for almost everyone.”

“With sustainability front of mind we are all dedicated to finding new homes for old things, and if our little vintage store can encourage more people to embrace secondhand and the circular economy whilst keeping things out of landfill we will have achieved something really wonderful.”
Nestled within Fremantle’s South Terrace Piazza, the pop up is scheduled to be open for three months.
The Piazza was sold to local developer Yolk Property Group in 2022, with promises of returning the site to its former glory – for the moment, it’s been transformed to Freo’s newest vintage hub with the addition of not just this pop up, but neighbouring vintage stores Freo de Janeiro, Yeah Vintage and Vintage Lily.
