A New Hospitality And Accommodation Precinct Is Coming To Dunsborough
As far as bustling tourism hotspots in our state’s southwest go, you’d be hard-pressed to argue Dunsborough’s current status as king of the mountain. While it’s always been a popular holiday spot for Perth peeps, it feels like the past few years have seen it become a year-round holiday destination that’s always busy.
Enter Southcamp – a new mixed use tourism hospitality village slated to be built near the corner of Cape Naturaliste Road, right on the boundary of Dunsborough’s town centre. Last month the development was unanimously approved by the City Of Busselton, in the hope it would help aid a current shortfall of accomodation options and provide a unique new option for holidaymakers in the region.
And it’ll aim to do so with an ambitious set of offerings that includes:
– A micro brewery producing a range of craft beers
– A tavern-type bar
– A restaurant and alfresco dining area
– A café and small batch coffee roastery
– 18 overnight accommodation eco-cabins
– Retail area with local produce and merchandise including the applicant’s beer that will be produced on site and available for take-away
– Onsite parking

According to the developer’s current liquor licensing survey, “Southcamp will offer tourist activities, brewing education, a wide range of liquor and non alcoholic drinks for consumption on the premises, a wide range of food options celebrating mainly local produce, small private functions, special events and other services and facilities. The venue will be very much family friendly and families will be well catered for and welcomed.”
The venue manager will be Miles Hull (Dark Horse Hospitality Group), who is responsible for establishing a bunch of respected Perth venues such as Alex Hotel & Shadow Wine Bar and Little Creatures, and is currently in charge of Applecross fave, the Quarter Acre Hotel.
