You may have missed it last night, but the 2021 ARIA Awards went down in Sydney and it was a true changing of the guard moment for Australian music. On the back of another difficult year for the Australian music scene, it was a chance for many to let their hair down and celebrate some of the exciting new talent on the scene.

Big winners on the night included Genesis Owusu, who took home for ARIA Awards including Australian music Album Of The Year, Best Hip Hop Release and Best Independent Release; The Kid LAROI, who took home Best Artist in the first year the awards have become gender-less, beating out the likes of Keith Urban, Tones & I and Kylie Minogue; and Budjerah, winning his first ARIA Award for Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist.

And giving us just a little smidge of hometown pride, WA-based indie rockers Spacey Jane won the public-voted Song Of The Year Award for ‘Booster Seat’, which you may remember took out Runner Up spot on the 2020 Hottest 100 countdown.

Check out the full list of winners via the ARIA Website.
