Stage Changers, A Beautiful New Documentary Filmed Over 8 Years In Perth, Premieres Online This Week
Following a special screening at Somerville late last year, a beautiful new Western Australian arts documentary, Stage Changers, has its online world premiere this week via the world’s largest online collective of documentary films, iwonder.
Produced and Directed by Ella Wright, the film follows the journey of Perth-based theatre makers The Last Great Hunt as they attempt to up-scale their distinctive, small-scale studio work meant for crowds of 100 up to crowds of over 1000.
It sounds simple enough, but what ensues is a thrilling journey as this small group of aspirational artists are faced with funding challenges, personal injury, production delays and more.

“My ambition was always to pair the personal and creative journeys of these artists with incredible performances that showcase the inner workings of their unique creative minds; exploring the adventure of stepping up your game when there is no linear path laid ahead,” says Wright, who recently launched her own production company, Tiny Light Films.
iwonder commissioned the documentary in 2020, giving its eight year journey the perfect home: “iwonder presented the perfect opportunity for us to share this beautiful story with an audience
who will appreciate the opportunity to connect with our characters deep in the creative process whilst watching a film that is fun, funny and surprising, says Wright.
Stage Changers will be available to watch on the iwonder streaming platform from February 10 – new viewers will able to watch for free by signing up to the free 14-day trial period, offering access to over 1000 other acclaimed documentaries and series.
