Whether you’re buying a gift well in advance or in a last minute panic, you can’t go past these brick-and-mortar shops.

With gifts to suit every taste, you’ll want to treat yourself to something nice, too!

Low End Therapy

While we wouldn’t dare presume to inform anyone about streetwear success story Highs and Lows, their slow-living lifestyle brand Low End Therapy flies a little more under the radar. Situated in their King Street store’s mezzanine, their range includes design-conscious homewares, art, books, accessories, music and more: think Wacko Maria, Posie and MAAPS incense, cult scents from 19-69 or Folie À Plusieurs, luxe sleepwear from Tekla, coffee from local roasters Double Double or homewares by Seth Rogen’s leafy brand Houseplant.

Balancing that charm with functionality, you’ll find shelves stocked with goodies from near and far – like Swedish and Belgian soaps, classic French Opinel knives, or a rainbow of Baggu accessories.

General & Aesthetic

Not content to dominate Mount Lawley’s brunch scene, the legends at Local & Aesthetic have opened their own retail space, General & Aesthetic, which follows in the café’s ethos of championing local producers. On the shelves you can expect to see a treasure trove of goodies from some of WA’s best local brands – think design-forward camping gear from Ghost Outdoors, lush skincare from Somic, Mettle, St James Supply Co and more, sweet jewellery from Evesdrop Designs, whimsical floral resin homewares from IN_HEAVEN or epic candles from Hall of Flame… Just to name a few!

While you’re there, pop into the FISH social enterprise store – also within Local & Aesthetic, the store has a breathtaking selection of Indigenous book titles (the largest in the country!), as well as other goodies made by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander micro-enterprises.

FOUND at Fremantle Arts Centre

Art gallery and museum gift shops get a pretty bad wrap, generally – often filled with overpriced stuff you can get anywhere. Not at FOUND! Instead, it’s packed to the brim with unique wares from local jewellers, textile designers, potters, woodworkers and other artists. Whether its a minimalist jarrah spice grinder from timber artisan Mark Nagtzaam, a stunning silk scarf from Many Peaks Assembly, or a hand dyed and woven vessel by basketry artist Siân Boucherd – the store truly showcases some of the groundbreaking artisans WA has to offer.

Even if your style isn’t quite so saccharine, they have plenty of gifts for every taste, like candles from Bunbury locals Ryan + Co., who create chic candles using repurposed beer and wine bottles, or get your mates picnic-ready with a Somewhere Co. picnic rug and a Finska set.

Pigeonhole

As far as Perth success stories go, Pigeonhole is up there with some of the best. The fact that many people just assume it’s a big nation-wide brand is testament to that, however its origins began way back in 2007 as tiny, one-stop shop tucked down a forgotten arcade on Barrack Street in Perth’s CBD. From sparkling jewellery to nifty lifestyle goods and quirky homewares (not to mention, plenty of plants!), you can always rely on Pigeonhole for even the trickiest of gifting.
