Anyone else getting tired of seeing all their mates’ stories and photos from Rottnest Island/Wadjemup over the past summer? We definitely are, which is why we found this new set of photos from the State Library Of Western Australia so captivating. Taken all over the island and back in Perth during the 1950s, it documents a time when holidaymakers travelled from Perth to Rottnest by boat and plane, with a heap of them looking like they could have been taken yesterday.

Check them out below and see the full set HERE, and as always with Rottnest we encourage you to at least do some reading on Rottnest Island’s cultural history, including its time as an Aboriginal-only prison camp.
