With the Socceroos reaching the knock out stage of this year’s FIFA World Cup, it’s fair to say the country has come alive with football fever!
Venues all over Perth have been screening the games at all hours of the night and morning, and with their upcoming do-or-die game against Argentina on Sunday morning a new space has joined the fray.
The Northbridge Piazza will be screening the game (which starts at 3am) this Sunday 4 December, with pre-entertainment kicking for the kick-off from 2.25am.
“We want people to be able to come together and watch it as one and the Northbridge Piazza is the perfect venue, so we will be broadcasting the match and all of the build-up live on the big screen,” said a fairly chuffed City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas this week.
The big screen football festivities will actually kick off at 10.25pm with the Netherlands playing the USA in another knockout game, and fans are encouraged to head into Northbridge, grab a bite to eat, have a drink and get in the World Cup spirit.
