Town Teams Celebrate A Milestone 100 Teams With A New Book
The Town Team Movement has just celebrated a huge achievement, reaching 100 Town Teams across Australia and New Zealand!
Mount Lawley’s Beaufort Street was the birthplace of the movement, with John Carey establishing the Beaufort Street Network in 2007. Activations by the group have included starting the popular Beaufort Street Festival, and more recently, a refresh of the “Faces of Beaufort” mural – painted by artist Jerome Davenport (pictured below), and which features local community superstars and role models.
The idea behind the Town Team movement is to mobilise and empower locals to create change in their communities – making their neighbourhoods a better place to live and connect with their neighbours.
To celebrate the huge miltestone, a book has been released: The Book of Doing: 100 Town Teams in Action. Not only does it showcase some of the amazing projects undertaken by Town Teams locally and across the country (and across the Tasman!), but it includes a practical guide on how you can connect with your community, and perhaps even start a Town Team of your own!
