As Perth continues to get back to as close to normal as possible, parking fees have started heading back up to normal rates as people return to the CBD and avoid public transport.

In an effort to buck the trend and help the CBD’s nighttime and weekend economy, Wilson Parking have just announced $5 flat rate parking on nights and weekends in the city.

In comes as the Australian Retailers Association recently announced retailers were one of the worst affected areas affected by a loss of tourism and a reduction in the number of office workers and other visitors to central business districts.

More than just the pubs and clubs, the lower fees will make it cheaper to access other services like 24-hour gyms, late-night retail, art galleries nad more.

Wilson CEO Stephan Wuffli had this to say: “The return of some CBD workers has injected life back into the city during work hours, but our local economies need more people to start rediscovering their cities on evening and weekends, too.

“We’re trying to make driving into the CBD more affordable, accessible, and less stressful – especially when we expect a lot of Aussies to still prefer to travel in their own vehicles to limit gathering in shared spaces.”

The offer will only be available by booking ahead using the Wilson App, and will be valid until August 31 unless otherwise extended.

It comes with news that City Of Perth Parking offering free 3-hour parking on weekends and public holidays across three locations, find more info on that here.
