The transformative power of coffee should never be underestimated, particularly when a warm mug rests in the hands of a parent. Somehow everything seems just that little bit more manageable after a flat white (with two shots). We have compiled a list of top Perth cafés that are perfect for catch ups with friends, a change of scenery or a pre-nap run around. These cafés are certified kid-friendly, whether that be through an awesome playground offering, or just an empathetic and knowing smile from the barista as a world-weary parent trudges in.
Bailey Brewing Co.
The Bailey Brewing Co. is a delightful spot ideal for catch-ups with bigger groups. They boast perhaps one of the most engaging playgrounds in Perth, designed out of several repurposed classic trucks that the toddlers go wild for. The kid’s menu is also exceptionally thoughtful with perfect portions (and prices).

Hobart Deli
The Hobart Deli is regarded as a bit of a parent’s group Mecca as there is a fully fenced playground across the road. Grab some friends, some picnic blankets and some babycinos and head for the fresh air. What’s perhaps even more appealing is the cabinet of freshly prepared take away meals on offer. Dinner sorted as well as a warming beverage? We’re done.

Mary Street Bakery receives a mention here for a special reason: they have Stokke highchairs on offer if you’re looking to feed the beasts something substantial. This is a truly thoughtful addition because the chairs are ergonomic, super comfortable and guarantee at least a few minutes of eating peace. The staff at Mary Street Bakery can be counted on to be welcoming any time of day and will even stop for a quick game of peek-a-boo while you inhale a donut.

This place is truly magical. Featuring an expansive outdoor area, there is heaps of space for kids to live their best lives. There are climbing frames, chalk boards and often special events such as Easter egg hunts which make any visit such a rewarding experience. This is truly a place where everyone is welcome and just as much love goes into the menu. You can even book Slate for birthday parties sure to keep both parents and kids content for an afternoon.

Nestled just off Karrinyup Road is a delightful Waldecks which is home to the Blue Lotus Café. With an enclosed play area full of toys geared for imaginative play, this is worthy of a stop. The staff are welcoming, and the range of plants is also divine. Take home some seedings for a post-nap sensory activity.

115 Collective
The kind folks of 115 Collective get it. This is a not just a café, it’s a community. Located within the True North Block that was once an empty plot on the corner of Connolly Drive and Jenolan Way, the space is inviting with plenty of offerings of the running-and-jumping persuasion. The fried chicken is something of a legend for those in the northern suburbs know.

Overlooking the Two Rocks Marina, this is a friendly place to stop and enjoy the fresh air. With a substantial menu complete with all the classics, there is bound to be something for everyone at Neptunes. Stop in on a sunny day for a run around and a BLT.

Although you might not be planning an overnight stay anytime soon, families are most welcome to drop-in to enjoy the facilities at The Vines. There is a mini golf set up as well as a playground that would be sure to delight eager climbers. You can order meals too, and not only do they arrive quickly, but you can position yourself within lunging distance of the playground should you need to catch a wobbly thrill seeker.

Nestled in a suburban shopping centre, this welcoming gem is a great place to stop when empty tummies set in. With a lovely kid’s menu and thoughtful beverages, this is well worth a visit. Consider pre-booking and indulge in a high tea where even kids are welcome to indulge in a scone or two. There is a supermarket, butcher and Weigh n’Pay all on site, making this a convenient place to fuel up and then plough on with the tyrannies of domestic life.
