After three years and not without a few issues along the journey, Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman has announced that the East Fremantle Community Park redevelopment is now complete.

It means the East Fremantle Football Club can finally move back into its home base after three years, where they’ll walk into state-of-the-art facilities to the tune of $34 million.

Mr Templeman said the redevelopment was a State Government election commitment, and includes a redeveloped football oval, new flood lights, a new synthetic bowling green, unisex change rooms, a dog exercise area, a skate zone, community gardens, a commercial gym, café, bar, kitchen and function rooms.

“I would like to give a warm welcome to the East Fremantle Football Club on their return to their spiritual home in Moss Street,” said Mr Templeman. “The players will soon be training and playing there and enjoy new modern facilities that will not just benefit the club, but also other sporting groups and the wider community.”

Of the $34 million spent on the facility, $26 million came from State Government funding to create the integrated precinct, which is also home to East Fremantle Bowling Club and East Fremantle Croquet Club, with a new basketball half-court and all-abilities nature play space. A further $340,000 in Government funding will go towards the Sharks’ relocation and fit-out costs, including a new video scoreboard, signage and some temporary game day infrastructure.

In addition to the oval, the full list of facilities at the park now includes: Carnaby’s Cafe, nature playground, B Active Health Club, skate zone and half-court basketball, Carnaby’s Bar & Restaurant and a dog exercise area.

“After a three-year absence, Sharks’ fans will be delighted to see their team play once again at their original home ground in the 2025 season,” said Mr Templeman.

“I commend both the Sharks club and local council for finalising negotiations over lease and licence agreements so that footy can now return to East Fremantle in a brand new, state-of-the-art facility that will be a valuable asset for the local community.”
