If you notice a few extra cyclists on the road around Perth over the next few days, you might be seeing some of Australia’s top riders in action.

They’re here for five days of elite cycling as the 2025 AusCycling Road National Championships pedals into Perth from January 8-12.

It’s the largest mass participation road cycling event in the country, and will see hundreds of cyclists racing across Bold Park, Kings Park, Northbridge, and the Perth CBD.

Having not been held in WA for more than 27 years, the event will now take place here for the next three – the first time it’s been held outside of Victoria since 2007.

“We’re really excited to welcome the AusCycling Road National Championships to WA for the first time in nearly 30 years,” said Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman.

“Road cycling is a sport that inspires people of all ages, and this event will be a fantastic celebration for local cyclists, sports fans, and the broader WA community.”

The championship includes three events over five days, including time trials, a criterium event (a bike race consisting of several laps around a closed circuit) and a road race.

Some of the sport’s biggest names have arrived to take part, including Amanda Spratt, Carol Cooke, Jai Hindley, Jay Vine, Luke Durbridge, Luke Plapp, and Ruby Roseman-Gannon.
