Yagan Square to screen the Olympics, including late-night Matildas group games
If you’re getting into the Olympic spirit as it fast approaches, then you may want to head down to Yagan Square as it transforms into Perth’s official LIVE site.
From next week, the 7 by 3 metre big screen at the Yagan Square Amphitheatre will be ready for daily live broadcasts of the Olympics from 7.00am to midnight (plus specially programmed events).
If you have gone past the square this week you will have already seen the official countdown beaming down from the Digital Tower – and now the iconic PERTH sign will welcome Olympic fans in new themed colours.
Now we all love our Matildas, and there won’t be a better place to watch them take on the Paris Olympics than at Yagan Square.
All of their group games will be shown live late at night on the big screen and tickets are free for the 500-capacity amphitheatre.
On Friday, July 26 the Matildas take on Germany at 1am, then on Monday, July 29 they face Zambia at 1am and finally they finish the group with a match against USA on Thursday, August 1 at 1am.
You can register for a free ticket for the Germany match, Zambia match and USA match.
Alongside the Olympics viewing, Yagan Square will be also hosting a wide range of activities for families throughout the games.

As well as that there will be plenty more free family activities including glitter/face painting and roving entertainment as the games are screened live on the big screen.
And don’t miss the Opening Ceremony revelry on Saturday, July 27 which will also be the official Yagan Square LIVE site launch.
