It’s the first time in 43 years we’ve hosted the Ashes opener, and it comes ahead of Perth hosting the opening test for the upcoming Australia versus India five test series.
Wildly, England have actually never played a test at Perth Stadium, and have only won one test in Western Australia at the WACA, way back in 1978.
The ‘West Test’ will be followed by a day-night fixture at the Gabba in Brisbane (December 4-8), the pre-Christmas Test at Adelaide Oval (December 17-21), the Boxing Day Test at the MCG (December 26-30) and finally the New Year’s Test at the SCG (January 4-8, 2026).
It’s one of the most-anticipated Ashes in history after the crazy 2023 series that saw the series end up two wins a piece, though Australia retained the urn.
