Eternal MMA lightweight champion Quillan Salkilld has been given the opportunity to fight for a UFC contract as a participant on the eighth season of Dana White’s Contender Series, the Perth local announced on social media.

Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) is a show created by the UFC which pits the best upcoming MMA talent in the world against each other in Las Vegas as the athletes fight for a UFC contract.

Aussie UFC starts like Jack Jenkins and Tom Nolan earnt their UFC contracts on the show, and Salkilld will be gunning to impress UFC President Dana White and secure a contract.

With a professional record of 6-1 with five stoppage victories, Salkilld is riding a huge wave of momentum into the bout.

Salkilld’s opponent and fight date are not yet confirmed, however this season of DWCS is predicted to take place from the 13th of August to the 15th of October, with one event taking place every week over 10 weeks.

UFC 305 will be held of August 18th in Perth’s RAC arena, which may give Salkilld the option to enjoy the spectacle of a UFC pay-per-view in person before jetting off to the US in hope of getting his own UFC contract.

Salkilld captured the Eternal MMA lightweight title in June last year, before he was given the call to fight on the Road to UFC event in China.

Due to an issue with his opponent, Salkilld was unable to fight at the event, and returned to Australia where he went on to defend the title two more times.

If he is successful, he will join fellow Perth fighters Jack Della Maddalena and Stephen Erceg in the UFC.
