Two Perth-based fighters will appear at the upcoming UFC event in Sydney next month

Perth based UFC fighters Cody Haddon and Quillan Salkilld are gearing up for the biggest fights of their careers, as the pair are both fighting on home soil at UFC 312 in Sydney, the UFC revealed Friday.

Training out of Luistro Combat Academy in Perth’s east, both Haddon and Salkilld were picked up by the UFC following successful fights on UFC president Dana White’s Contender Series TV show in 2024.

Haddon, who secure his UFC contract with a first round submission over prospect Billy Brand, had a quick turn around to make his UFC debut before the end of 2024, where he scored a win over Dan Argueta, raising his record to 8-1 and extending his win streak to six victories.

Haddon will take on Aleksandre Topuria in a bantamweight bout that will be Topuria’s first in the UFC.

MMA fans may recognise Topuria as being the younger brother of undefeated UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, who defeated Australian champion Alex Volkanovski for the title in February 2024.

Topuria will enter the match up with a record of 5-1 and is on a three fight win streak.

Quillan Salkilld Dana White Contender Series

For Salkilld (pictured, above), his bout will be his UFC debut when he takes on India’s Anshul Jubli in a lightweight fight.

Salkilld secured his UFC contract by defeating Gauge Young in a fight that had Dana White enter the cage afterwards to personally thank both fighters for their performances.

Salkilld will enter his UFC debut with a record of 7-1 and on a seven fight win streak. Jubli will enter the bout with the same record of 7-1, however is entering a fight off a loss.

The teammates will join follow Aussie UFC stars such as Jimmy Crute, Jack Jenkins and Justin Tafa on the card, which is set to be headlined by South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis taking on brash American Sean Strickland for the UFC middleweight title.

UFC 312 will be held on February 9 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, you can watch it on Foxtel/Kayo, or at one of Perth’s many great sports bars.
