Stay in a Prime Minster’s house at John Curtin’s historic Cottesloe home

Australian politics and history buffs will get a kick out of this one – the former Cottesloe home of war-time Australian Prime Minister John Curtin is available to book for long or short term accommodation!

It’s a comfortable, colonial-style home close to beach, and housed four generations of Curtin family over 75 years!

Curtin and his wife Elsie built the home way back in 1923, with the house undergoing major conservation and interpretation works back in 2010, including restoration of the big, beautiful garden.

Even cooler, inside you’ll find an array of fascinating information on the lives and times of John, Elsie, their children and even beloved dog, Kip.

Grab a cup of tea and sit in the sunroom while you read the Curtin Family home booklet, or you can even listen to an audio tour of the house based on Elsie’s writings.

This National Trust project is a must-do for fans of Australia’s political and war-time history, offering fascinating insight into Curtin’s home life, offering incredible context with regards to his political convictions and directions for Australia during World War II.
