West Perth has the perfect mix of nature and city all wrapped up into one.

Despite being a major business district near the city, West Perth feels like a quiet suburban backyard – but don’t let the quiet vibe give you the idea that there’s not much going on!

There is plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes and shopping to do, day and night.

EAT & DRINK

Boobook Bottles and Bar

Checkout this two-in-one bar and bottle-o where you can shop a huge range of boutique wines, rare spirits and of course craft beers. You can take a seat in the bar and sip on a glass of wine, take your pick of the eight beers on tap or try something from their unique list of spirits. Cleaver Heritage café

This cute little café is a go-to spot amidst the bustle to grab your morning coffee and a delicious brekky on the way to the office. Running successfully for around a decade years, this suburban delight has become a staple on the West Perth brunch scene. Frequenters of the establishment need not even ask for their order, as the homely staff know it off by heart. Always focussing on providing top-notch dishes created from locally sourced produce, it’s a rare gem that certainly deserves a visit next time you’re in the area.

Phat Brew Club

Good food, good drinking and good times? That’s a proposition that’s pretty hard to resist. Phat Brew Club brings all three in spades across its expansive 400-pax Clubroom and beer garden, which opened at the beginning of 2023. And it’s already become a fave of locals in the area, with a delicious core range of beers, some incredibly snackable food and a very welcome vibe.

Julio’s

Donnie Taco

Basketball and tacos isn’t an obvious combination, but the legends at Donnie Taco have made it work! A slick basketball half court makes for excellent viewing (or playing) while stopping in for a coffee and one of their delicious taco options. An inspired decision, one we never want to understand the basis of, just thoroughly enjoy any chance we can. You can even grab a refreshing lunch meeting beer and then work it off on the court later on, and on Fridays in the warmer month it’s a great little after work spot.

66 Kings Park Road, West Perth

Mayfair Lane

This pub is a mixture of taste and tradition, fancy and relaxed, professional and tongue-in-cheek. Sit out on the terrace in the sunshine, under the balcony overlooking the trees or inside the classic style bistro area, this multi-purpose seating plan has got it all. They have in impressive, award-winning wine list as well as a build-your-own cocktail section and a popular craft beer list.

Bagels & Beans

Exactly what it says on the tin, Bagels & Beans is the West Perth provider of coffee and our favourite carb-dense filling holders – bagels. Based on the busy Hay St strip, covered with posters of old and upcoming gigs, this little funky café has a great vibe. Choose from a range of pre-made bagels or invent your own, all bagels are made fresh on-site daily.

Atlas Food + Coffee

One of the cutest cafes goin’ around, Atlas back up their friendly service with an even friendlier Korean-inspired breakfast/lunch menu. The coffee is always on point and they’ve got a bunch of healthy options and vegan smoothies to offset naughty things like their delicious – and very naughty – fried chicken on croffle or waffles:

Cherry & Grapes

Cherry & Grapes is where all the meetings go down in West Perth, not because it’s a serious spot though. It gets real busy but the staff are always accommodating and friendly, and the surrounds are beautiful. The menu is short, sweet, and packed with winners including lots of gluten free and vegan choices. Their breakfast options are great, but if you’re lunching it, we strongly recommend the KFC Shaka Shokupan Sando – delish:

Zafferano

Perth isn’t exactly stuffed to the gills with fine dining experiences, although Zafferano has been flying the flag for years now. And while they’re no longer in their riverside locale, the Mediterranean-style menu hasn’t lost any of its class. Stacked with fresh seafood – the Horseradish oysters and seafood linguine are delightful – they also know their way around a cocktail.

49 Outram Street, West Perth

Fat Boyz Burgers

This joint is serving up some unreal burgers that aren’t for the faint hearted. For the best vibes in a fun and cosy atmosphere, make sure to stop in here for an after-work bevvy and meal that’ll have you in a food coma. Their bar staff make a mean espresso martini, or if cocktails aren’t your style, they’ve got plenty of wines or a great selection of beers on tap.

1303 Hay St, West Perth

Noodle Inn

If you’re a laksa lover we don’t need to tell you that Noodle Inn is the spot to go for some of the best around town. Spicy as hell, it’ll put a kick up your backside for the afternoon shift. The whole menu is great – and super cheap too – the only trick is finding the dang place, but we can’t make things too easy for you now, can we?

1273 Hay St, West Perth

Tim’s Thai

Not only is Tim’s the best Thai Restaurant in West Perth, it makes a legitimate case for being the best in all of Perth. Testament to this is the lunch rush that’ll put you in a long line if you get there any later than 12pm, the wait is worth it. Best bet is to book a table for a post-work dinner Tuesday-Friday, you won’t be disappointed.

SEE & DO

Cavania

We’re chucking Cavania up the top of this section as it definitely also deserves to be in the eat and drink department. The Cavania Cafe make a great coffee in the morning, but it’s their incredible toasty selection that’ll satisfy all work-related hunger cravings. Next door to the cafe though is a huge homewares and clothing store, perfect for that last minute gift on your way home from the office.

It can’t be all fun and games on these lists, and Jacob’s Ladder is definitely neither. There’s generally plenty of people there doing the same thing as you, so you won’t be short on motivation and you’ll be feeling the pinch quick enough.
