You’ve got mail!

Well, at least you may be getting it quicker now after Australia Post announced an expansion of its services in Perth.

From today (Wednesday 12 June), residents of Perth will be able to access next-day delivery through the post for some parcels.

Australia Post made the decision to offer this in Perth after the city increased its online purchases by 15% since 2019, with 800,000 residents shopping online in the past year.

In fact, Perth saw the highest online shopping year-on-year growth of 5.1%.

At the same time, an Australia Post study found 68% of shoppers abandon their online carts if the delivery method is too slow.

Australia Post already offers next-day delivery in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and now it will offer the same in Perth, and Adelaide.

Executive general manager of parcel, post and eCommerce services Gary Starr says they are listening to customers in Perth.

“We’ve been listening to our customers, and know they expect more certainty, simplicity and speed when ordering online,” he said.

“We already have some of the country’s largest retailers using the Australia Post Metro service covering the lifestyle, fashion, beauty and fast-moving consumer goods space, with more retailers coming online every month.”

The next-day delivery service allows quicker deliveries from some big brands including Myer, Big W, Rebel Sport, Macpac, Supercheap Auto and BCF.

Elsewhere in Australia, more than 2.6 million parcels have been delivered through next-day delivery since the service was introduced.

Australia Post expects that number will only continue to grow as more retail partners come on board.
