Got a work do coming up and need to sort out the wheat from the chaff? Want to impress a first date with your complex problem solving skills? Want to get “buried alive” with only one friend on a radio to help you get out? Perth has some great little escape rooms to challenge you, your friends and/or family to an hour of fun (or hell, depending on how you go) – check out a few of the best below:
Unlock some absolutely wild escape room possibilities with the magic of VR. As well as some whacky, technicolour, glowing mini-golf, these guys are taking escape rooms to another level with an immersive VR experience. Be transported to ancient Greece, escape a mysterious pyramid or even explore a robot-filled future with their selection of moderate to expert-level programs, many of which tie into games like Assassin’s Creed or Prince of Persia.

Lost Reality Escape Room
For a cinematic escape room experience Lost Reality in Cannington offer five super fun and very different themes to choose from. There’s The Jungle; Game Of Thrones-esque The Frozen King; Sherlock Holmes: London Is Falling; The Mafia; and The Witch’s Potion. Most go for an hour, although The Witch’s Potion is rated 5/5 for difficulty and goes for 75 minutes.
Unit 7, 1451 Albany Highway, Cannington
Escape the (supposedly) mean streets of Northbridge and into one of Perth’s most popular Escape Room spots – Escape This. They’ve got a huge range of room themes on offer, including “Adventure” options such as a couple of Pirate-themed options, along with some seriously spooky Horror-themed rooms like Cannibal, Dracula and Buried Alive. In terms of quality of puzzles, theming and even actors, it’s hard to go past Escape This.

The Escape Hunt Experience
If you’re planning a little night out on the town in Freo why not warm up with one of Escape Hunt‘s themed rooms? You’ve got themes like Alice In Puzzleland, Aladdin And The Magic Vault and Wild Western Jailbreak, plus a couple of outdoor games. The outdoor games, Operation Mindfall and Magic Fall, require you to pick up an iPad and action pack from Escape Hunt and embark on a 2km walk with augmented reality and more!
U29A/36 The Piazza, South Terrace, Fremantle
Time’s Up have rooms in Perth and Bunbury, both home to some challenging rooms. Their website even has a running tally, and with almost 28,5000 escapees they escape rate is only at 47% – which sounds like a challenge to us. Try to capture a serial killer or head to some temple ruins, the wild west or medieval times across the different themes. All rooms go for an hour and will set you back $36pp.

Realmz Escape Game
Arguably one of the most immersive escape rooms around Perth, Realmz offers a “technologically enhanced gaming experience with studio quality theming”, with custom-designed rooms. All of Realmz’ puzzles and props are created in-house for “maximum immersion”. Theming wise there’s The Chaos Engine, Zenith Prime and The Mummy 2, with all games going 50 minutes and costing $35pp.

Mystic Clue in Rivervale is Perth’s OG escape room group, and as such know the importance of great storytelling along with set design and of course, mind-bending puzzles. They’ve got three rooms to choose from – Magician’s Code, The Vault and Flight 279 (we’ll let you figure out the themes), ranging from beginner to expert.
143 Great Eastern Highway, Rivervale
There’s plenty on offer at most Strike Bowling options around Perth (including things like mini golf and karaoke), and they’re very well known for a fun and challenging escape room. And while many rooms have pretty similar themes along this list, Strike mix things up a little with the Casion Heist, Forensic and The Garden.
