Sometimes you need to take a step out of the rat race and enjoy the simple things in life… Clean air, misty mornings, roosters crowing, good wine, fresh produce…

Nothing beats a weekend away on the farm, and lucky for you there is ample opportunity to do so around our fair state, mostly around the southwest region. Here’s a bunch of our favourite farm stays around Perth and Western Australia.

Settlers Rest Farmstay (West Swan)

Ferguson Farmstay

Ferguson Farmstay is located only 30 minutes’ drive from Bunbury and less than two hours’ drive south of Perth. The chalets are situated on top of the undulating Darling ranges, giving spectacular views of farmland and vineyards all the way to the Bunbury coast. If you look closely, you might even spot a ship docking in the Bunbury harbour.

Little Hop House (Donnybrook)

Little Hop House is a small home nestled amongst the green, rolling hills of the Preston River Valley in beautiful, southwest Western Australia. Situated on a working hop farm, only five minutes out of the nearby town of Donnybrook, but a world away from city life.

Lavendale Farm (York)

Featuring accommodation offering beautiful rural views, Lavendale Farmstay and Cottages York are set along 64ha of gently sloping land on the banks of the Avon River. Their stable is home to horses, ponies, alpacas, donkeys, sheep, goats, pet pigs, some cattle plus numerous ducks and chickens. Guests are invited to help feed the animals in the evening and collect eggs.

Burnside Organic Farm (Margaret River)

Burnside Organic Farm is a small family certified organic and biodynamic winery in Margaret River offering bungalow accommodation and farm tours. They offer four self-contained bungalows on the property. Situated a good distance apart to allow peace and privacy for all guests. The bungalows are built from natural materials including stone and timber, have full kitchens, wood fires and spacious outside entertaining areas. Guests have exclusive access to the kitchen garden, farm walks, access to adjoining National Park tracks and complimentary wine tastings.

Yardup Cottage (Borden)

Yardup Cottage is an hour from Albany and offers a truly remote experience. Built in the 1900s, the cottage has been lovingly restored (as the photos attest) and offers a private farm-style accommodation with spectacular views of the Stirling Ranges, making it the perfect base to explore Bluff Knoll.

Wooleen Station

They have accommodation options to suit everyone and an array of activities and experiences to keep you as busy or as relaxed as you want to be. With just a short drive you can spend your morning snorkelling with mantas and whale sharks and then back to the Station for a lazy afternoon in a hammock and an evening round a fire pit sharing stories with fellow travellers.
