Whether it comes to what we eat or what we wear, we’re all trying to make better, more ethical choices in our lives. I reckon the best way to do that is to buy less, buy local and buy better – here’s some of our picks for local fashion labels creating high-quality, ethically-made garments no matter your style.

Man-tle

Run by husband and wife duo and Comme des Garçons alumni, Man-tle is all rugged Australian utility and refined Japanese design sensibility. Their brand new shop in the heart of Northbridge showcases not only their own clothing designs, but select Japanese, Australian and Korean products. Japanese-made waxed shirts, down jackets and cotton culottes, you’ll feel like you’ve just stepped off the stylish streets of Tokyo.

Many Peaks Assembly

MPA’s Rose makes the perfect. linen. dress. Prove me wrong! Utilising super high quality materials like Irish handkerchief linen, and luxurious finishing details like French and bound seams, these pieces are a lifetime investment, and a commitment to the ethos “buy less, buy better”.

Dyspnea

Over the top and yet not covering much, Dyspnea is all of your wildest party-girl alter-ego’s dreams come true. Barbie meets Rihanna meets Anna Nicole Smith, the girls at Dyspnea are the queens of sparkle. When you’re worn by the likes of Dua Lipa, Charlie XCX, Bebe Rexha, Rita Ora (and heaps more), you get to be a little bit extra!

Hickey Hardware

Where Dyspnea is all about the glamour, Hickey Hardware is all about comfort. While there’s definitely a summer vibe to the collection, this is transeasonal dressing made for Perth. Unisex resort wear with signature bold prints, it’ll feel like your wearing pyjamas all day. If you can’t get enough of those textiles, check out the Alex Hotel x Hickey Hardware homeware collection and wrap yourself up in a custom quilted blanket.

Inspired by Perth summers, RŪPAHAUS is all about carefree summer wardrobe staples finished with luxurious details. Designed in Perth and ethically produced in Indonesia with a real focus on the region’s local artisans, these pieces can go from day to night and won’t break the bank.
