The Best Low Waste Stores in Perth
2020 is it! The year we’re finally going to get it together and reduce our waste. Single use plastics? I don’t know her!
Zero Store
This super stylish store shares its lush 1920s warehouse space with the Raw Kitchen, YogaLab and Gypsy Elixirs kombucha. Home to one of Australia’s largest ranges of zero-waste products, Zero stocks everything from reusable food packaging (that includes stainless steel coffee capsules, glass straws, crochet dishcloths, linen bowl covers, cotton produce bags… the list goes on), cleaning and laundry supplies, personal care, beauty and heaps more. We could go on forever about all their offerings, but your best bet is to head there quick sticks and check it out yourself.

The Store House
Having just turned one back in November, the Store House has quickly become a one-stop shop for all your bulk needs. Wall-to-wall spices, legumes, grains and flours, as well as heaps of tasty ready-to-eat snacks if you need something for that three-pm slump. With an impressive range of cleaning and body products, these guys are on a mission to make sustainable, zero-waste living as straightforward as possible.

Kakulas Brothers
Kakulas has been providing continental groceries to the yia yias and pappous of Perth since 1929 from the same Northbridge store. With all the bulk spices, grains and flours you can shake a stick at, as well as tea and coffee, nuts, beans, rice, pasta, confectionary and dried fruits. Super centrally located, you can catch public transport into Northbridge to make your trip extra eco-conscious.

The Source Bulk Foods
Founded in Byron Bay, the Source is now Australia’s largest specialty bulk food retailer, with stores across the country and even internationally. With a growing number of locations, it’s even easier to get in on the low-waste movement – not to mention their super extensive range of over 400 bulk products. Particularly exciting is their range of “Bush Tucker” Australian herbs, spices and teas. Replenish
This Kalamunda shop started with a local family’s pledge to go plastic-free for one month in 2016. The month grew into a plastic-free journey, with the family-run store opening a year later. Replenish stocks heaps of super-duper local produce from the Hills, like beeswax from the area or Golden Whisk treats (delivered from across the road – how’s that for low food miles?) They’ve also got a recycling station that includes a LabelDrop bin for those who are kicking their zero waste pledge up a notch in 2020.

As well as heaps of other household items, Urban Revolution also have a Terra Cycle recycling system, where you can drop off hard to recycle products (think stuff like Nespresso pods, mail satchels or toothpaste tubes).
