Nestled in the heart of the city’s heritage precinct and just across the road from the grandeur of His Majesty’s Theatre, Ascua is serving up wood-fired flavours and unique dining experiences this winter – did someone say Champagne and Caviar?
Winter has welcomed a brand new menu to the restaurant, warming up cold evenings and pre-theatre dinners with not just the flames of the wood-fired grill, but the deep earthy warmth of smoked spices, indulgent braised meats and nourishing winter vegetables – and a focus on local produce that makes it distinctively West Australian.
Albany kingfish harkens back to summer, served as a crudo with pickled daikon and chilli with a buttermilk lime dressing, while Exmouth king prawns, cooked in white wine with chorizo, garlic and white wine, merge local produce with Euro flavours.

Margaret River Black Angus makes an appearance as both a tartare – topped with caper berries, mustard cream and a beetroot cured egg yolk, scooped up with delicate tapioca crisps – as well as grilled over wood-fire, while Amelia Park lamb shoulder, braised for 12 hours, makes an impressive, decadent share.
But if you’re talking about impressive, you can’t go past the 40-day dry-aged Stirling Ranges tomahawk, sprinkled with your choice of wakame, charcoal or red gum smoked sea salt: impressive whether you’re sharing with a new flame or a new client!

(On that note, Ascua has also just launched a Friday lunch service for those extra-special end-of-week lunches – and who knows, maybe it’ll roll into after-work drinks, too?!)
If a hefty tomahawk isn’t lavish enough for you, Ascua invites you to enjoy the luxurious, long-standing pairing of champagne and caviar. Black pearl caviar, velvety crème fraîche atop homemade gaufrette crisps, washed down with Laurent Perrier champagne? Go on, if you insist…
