Let it be said that we’re definitely spoilt when it comes to public holidays in the first half of the year, and with another coming up to mark ANZAC Day this weekend, we’re not short on things to do. And if you’re a fan of chicken, beer and good times, we’ve got just the ticket for you, the inaugural Chicken & Beer Festival (book your tickets HERE).

Taking over Subiaco Market Square from Friday 23 April until Sunday 25 April, you’ll have the opportunity to experience every finger lickin’ type of chicken you can imagine, along with plenty of fun like footy on the big screen, buskers, silent discos, carnival rides, garden games and more.

We’ve already given you the lowdown on what to expect HERE, and below we’ve outlined five highlights in particular we’re looking forward to:

This will be beloved North Perth cafe Satchmo’s first ever food festival

The mother- and son-owned Satchmo Cafe will be one of the star attractions at Chicken & Beer Festival. Beloved for a seasonal menu that reflects their traditional Jewish roots and a love of New Orleans cuisine and music, they’ll bringing their delicious Louisiana-style friend chicken to the fest and we’re licking our lips already.

Brazilian brewery Fat Bull is launching two new brews created for the fest

With around a dozen breweries guesting at the fest, we’re excited to try two new drops from Fat Bull: the Fat Bull Pilsner and the Fat Bull IPA. The former is an easy drinking, lightly hopped beer perfect for the weekend’s warm weather, while the latter is a light, aromatic, refreshing American IPA-style beer.

Expect plenty of spice to go with all things nice

Family owned and operated vendor Wingman bring their special mix of Malaysian-style charcoal and fried chicken wings, and for those who like their chicken with some heat, Wingman’s may just be the spiciest.

There’s plenty on offer for vegans and vegetarians

Many of the vendors will be providing meat alternatives for the fest, and The Dirty Swine’s selection looks tantalising, including all of these vegan options: Jackpork City Bahn Mi, Buffauxlo Jack Bahn Mi, Buffauxlo Jack Bao, Jackpork City Bao, Jackpork City Loaded Fries and Buffauxlo Jack Loaded Fries.

A butter chicken burger!

Tikka Tango will be releasing a special Chicken & Beer Fest burger for the weekend – a Butter Chicken Burger, featuring grilled butter chicken, lettuce, tomato, bail raita, chilli mango chutney, crispy spinach fritters and melted cheese. Look delish:

Yes there’s food and drink, but also plenty of fun

Alongside some fantastic food and drink options, Chicken & Beer Festival promises to be an excellent day out for the whole family with buskers, carnival rides, carnival games, garden games, silent disco and a big screen broadcasting AFL games. Even better – kids under the age of 18 are free!
