There’s so many shiny new (and very delicious) things, we thought it time to give you a little primer on why it should be top of your “things to do this summer” list…
Open since 1897, The Leederville Hotel has had a facelift – while it’s got a schmick new look, it’s taking things back to basics. Cold beers, hot food and good times… And maybe a game of pool or two. Attached to the Hotel, you’ll find Sandgropers: a bar dedicated to everything craft beer, it’s like a cellar door for beer nerds. You can expect to see a rotating guest producer taking up residence each month, with delicious beers on offer as well as merch and other goodies.
And while you can rest assured that although they’ve had a nifty rebrand, The Garden’s relaxed, lush vibes have remained. The lush green surrounds, laid-back atmosphere and industrial design features plenty of covered areas to keep you in the shade over summer, while their mouthwatering array of cocktail jugs will keep you very cool.
At the heart of the Precinct you can meander through the courtyards that link The Garden, The Leederville Hotel and brand new restaurant Servo and Servo Yard Bar – Yard Bar is decked out with yellow umbrellas, blending into the other spaces around. Drenched in sunshine, it’s the perfect spot whether you’re stopping by for a leisurely lunch, an after-work drink, or having a more raucous night out with mates.
The menu at Servo Restaurant is positively oh so weird but very, very wonderful. Without swaying you too much you gotta try the pickled mussel toast (trust us); yoghurt fried chicken; burrata, kimchi & white peach; and the casarecce, anchovy, tomato and seaweed crumbs. Even better, the restaurant and Yard Bar are both open seven days a week!
Finally if you’re on one of those wild nights out, you might need something to soak up the booze – luckily Servo’s low-key kebab window is open ‘til the wee hours of the morning. These kebabs are good at any time of the day though, and make a cracking lunch in the sunshine. We didn’t get to try it on our visit, but the cheeseburger borek kebab looked dangerously good.
