They can also make dining out a teeny tiny bit more stressful, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. In Perth, we’ve got options aplenty for kid friendly restaurants, whether they’re pubs with playgrounds to keep them occupied or killer meal deals to help the back pocket.

Here’s some of the best options around Perth take the tiny ones for a night out, and get you out of the kitchen.

King Road Brewing Co

Next time you’re knocking around south of Perth with the family and looking for the perfect lunch spot, make sure to pop into King Road Brewery. Their stand-alone brewery whips up some delicious beer and cider combos, with the bar and restaurant keeping you watered and fed with seasonal menus and plenty of weekend specials. Live music is a common feature during the warmer months, and for the kids they regularly program entertainers to keep them busy – that’s if you can pull them away from the adventure playground!

King Road Brewing Co.

Victoria Park Hotel

It might be a bit of a stretch to call the Victoria Park Hotel a hidden gem amidst Albany Highway’s bustling food and drink scene, it’s nonetheless a solid pub that shows the sport on the telly, has plenty of great beers on tap and serves up delicious pub grub, and most recently added “spectacular beer garden” to its list of charms. Said beer garden features a huge new playground and interactive kids menu to keep the tiny ones occupied while mums and dads enjoy a tipple, and it’s puppy-friendly too!


Brixton Yard

Open all the way from breakfast to dinner, five days a week, Brixton Yard has got you covered just about any time of day – as well as the whole fam. Vibes are thoroughly relaxed, whether you’re grabbing a refreshing afternoon beer, an easy-breezy weeknight dinner, or an early morning brekkie – little ones are more than welcome with a dedicated kids area, plus you can even bring the pooch to hang out with you in the beer garden.

Bailey Brewing Co.

Given our penchant for regular trips up to Perth’s wine country, it makes sense for their to be a few spots that cater to the whole family. Bailey Brewing Co. is a relatively new addition to the West Swan area that’s big, family-friendly and full of great beer and bites everyone can enjoy. There’s plenty of grassed area for romping, the playground is second to none, and you’ll find it very easy to wile away a sunny Sunday arvo here while the kids hopefully tucker ’emselves out by dinner time.

Gage Roads Freo

Gage Roads’ long-awaited Freo brewpub has finally opened, and they’re ticking a lot of boxes. The mammoth venue is not only serving up their signature frothies for the grownups, but a sizeable selection of both kid-specific meals and kid-friendly mains. Not to mention that sandpit and playground, featuring a retired crayboat and a ’60s Land Cruiser for kids to scramble over!

Clancy’s Fish Pub 

For sheer romping value, it’s hard to go past the glorious green fields out the back of Clancy’s Fish Pub in Freo. While the kids menu ain’t huge, the meals do come with a free juice, and you can be darn sure they’ll be tuckered out after running around with the other kids on the expansive back lawn. Plus, the City Beach location has all of the foreshore and sand for kids to run around – as well as an interior suited to groups of all sizes.

The Carine

You’d be hard-pressed to find more a kid-welcoming spot than The Carine, with three leafy courtyards and fantastic playground facilities. Plus, kids eat for free on Tuesdays, otherwise all meals are only $12, plus a couple of bucks to add on an ice-cream.

Zamia Café

A popular spot in Kings Park for breakfast and lunch, kids are well-catered for on both of Zamia’s menus, with most things hovering around $10 or under. Even better, the kids play area is epic, featuring huge dinosaurs and natural climbing structures to play on.

One for the crafty ma’s and pa’s out there, Dutch Trading Co. in Victoria Park has a nice, large dining area out the back that runs into a sandy playground. Plus the kids meals are only $10, including fish and chips, cheeseburgers, grilled sausages or crumbed chicken.

Masonmill Gardens

If you’re looking for a full afternoon of adventure, Masonmill Gardens have you covered with a cruisey 18 hole putt putt course, café, bar and Irish Village Beer Garden. Kids also have a few different breakfast and lunch options (with free juice box), or if they’re feeling a little fancier why not indulge them in a Children’s High Tea?

If you’re looking for a space that has a kid’s play area that’s safe and close by, The Herdy has a huge indoor play area that’ll keep ‘em going for hours. Their kids menu is also capped at $10 each, with optional side salads available for free!

Whale & Ale Tavern

The Whale & Ale Tavern in Clarkson has nice, fenced off play area making it easy to keep an eye on the kids. Their kids offerings are all $10.90 ($13 with a drink, ice cream and activity pack), and includes kids faves like bangers and mash or junior beef sliders – but most importantly, kids eat free on Mondays and Tuesdays, all day!

Sit inside by the cosy open fireplaces or soak up the sunshine in the beer garden – their kids menu will keep your little ones more than sated, with deluxe options for fussy palates like steak and chips or mash.

Core Cider

As well as enjoying their seasonal fruit-picking, Core Cider is an ideal destination for a family lunch in the Hills. Little Creatures has long been the go-to for family-friendly fun, with lots of meals available for the Little Creatures among us. Keep them fed and occupied with one of their kids meal packs, which include a meal (think fish and chips, mini cheeseburgers with cheeps, mini pizzas or nachos), as well as a drink, ice cream and activity pack.

You can’t forget the historic Mundaring Weir Hotel. Established in 1898, the hotel has live music and spit roasts on Sundays, with a kids playground, table tennis and basketball just behind the stage. The kids menu also has heaps of options, with lots of family favourites.

Neighbourhood pub Quarter Acre manages to walk the walk – keeping the friendly and welcoming vibes going with a wallet-friendly kids menu to match. Including modern favourites like hummus, Turkish bread and veg, chicken tacos and cheeseburgers (plus many more), they’re all $11 or less. Their bright beer garden is also completed with a sandpit, so parents can enjoy a glass of wine or a beer while the kids play!

Seasonal has become a favourite in Bayswater, especially for a casual mid-week dinner or relaxed Sunday arvo drink. While we reckon their food goes particularly well with a beer – but luckily they’ve got a rotating kids menu that’s just as good, even without the brews! Let the kids go ham in the sandpit under your watchful eye while you have a relaxed drink in the courtyard.
