Serving ice-cold pints non-stop since 1852, the Stirling Arms is a beloved part of the Swan Valley community – and 173 years in, the pub has entered its newest era!

Originally built by convict labour and with a colourful history that includes a circus troupe of publicans (really!), the Stirling Arms’ new owners Jesse and Dave took the reins in the middle of last year – and the two are set on levelling up the proudly independent pub’s offerings while keeping the community-focused, neighbourhood vibes going.

One of their latest additions has been the arrival of a custom wood and gas-fire pizza oven, lovingly hand-built in Sydney before making its way to the leafy surrounds of the Guildford beer garden.

At the pizza oven’s helm is Chef Aldo, who’s been slingin’ pies since his childhood growing up in Italy, and whose CV features stints at venues including Si Paradiso, Rossonero and Deli’s Continental.

And just like the pub’s main kitchen, pizzas are made with as many local ingredients and suppliers as possible, like the gooey deliciousness of Vic Park’s La Delizia Latticini cheese or fiery homemade chilli oil.

Alongside the schmick new pizza oven, heaps more upgrades are in the works – perhaps most excitingly, the expansion of the pub to include an all-day dining space and café next door, alongside a new family-friendly area with a huge nature-based playground at its centre. The upcoming addition of a brand new alfresco bar will mean even more taps featuring local and independent breweries.

In the meantime, though… There’s still heaps going on, and plenty of space for your next function! As well as those woodfired pizzas, the pub’s roster of events means there’s plenty of excuses to visit, from drag bingo or the weekly quiz nights every Thursday, to live local and touring musos.

Plus, it’s less than ten minutes’ walk from the Guildford train station – so you can stick around for an extra pint or two without worry! (Or grab a room for the weekend for a Swan Valley staycay?)
