Whether you’re looking for top tteokbokki or some banging bulgogi, here are our favourite Korean restaurants in Perth.

(Hungry for more? We have a whole article dedicated to K-BBQ, which you can read here!)

Chop Chop Korea

Opening at the start of June, Chop Chop Korea has earned what feels like legions of fans in just a few short months – and it certainly feels like legions when you’re waiting patiently for a table! Fried chicken and other street food favourites like tteokbokki, fried dumplings and gimbap are crowd-pleasers, but kimchi stew or bibimbap will be sure to warm you up on a chilly evening.

Popo Lee

If you’re not super familiar with Korean cuisine, there’s no better place to get an introduction than at Northbridge’s Popo Lee – and it’s been known to be the start of a good night out! Their approachable menu is focused on a combo of street food and bar food – think fried chicken, dumplings, corndogs, seaweed rolls, kimchi pancakes – along with more substantial, comforting offerings like kimchi or brisket stew, noodles and more.

Sik Gaek

Since opening in 2019, Sik Gaek has become a firm favourite for Perth fans of Korean cuisine. Alongside the K-BBQ classics, these guys are known for their jajangmyeon – delightfully chewy noodles with a black bean sauce – as well as their juicy, cumin-spiced lamb skewers, roasted on automatically rotating skewers over charcoal at your table. Nifty!

Kimbap Heaven

Tucked away in an industrial area of East Vic Park, at the low-key spot once home to Mei’s Noodles (who have since moved to Morley), you’ll stumble upon a little slice of heaven – Kimbap Heaven, that is! As well as their namesake kimbap, they’re all about Korean street food of all varieties, from japchae and cupbap, to tteokbokki, fried chicken and hand-made mandu. Make sure to grab a sweet honey-filled hotteok for dessert!

Woojeong

No matter the time of year, sometimes you just need a hearty soup – and Woojeong will certainly deliver on that front with everything from spicy beef or seafood, to fish roe, all the way to pork blood. If that’s not your speed, plenty of bibimbap options will always please.

Tong86

Tong86 has seemingly been around forever, and – for us, at least – is almost synonymous with K-BBQ in Perth. Still going strong all these years later, Tong86 is still pumping out delicious barbecue from its Beaufort Street shopfront – the scribbly, warehouse interior as cool as ever. While we wouldn’t necessarily take our grandparents there, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with your rowdiest group of mates.

Sticks

It seems like Myaree is becoming a burgeoning hotspot of Korean deliciousness! One of its post popular spots is Sticks, an itty-bitty café and restaurant serving up low-key comfort food. During the warmer months, we love diving into a bowl of naengmyeon (cold noodle soup), but when the temperature drops, we can’t go past a hearty hotpot.

Krunchy

Just around the corner from Sticks, we have to give a shout out to Krunchy. While this may be pushing the strict definition of “restaurant”, how could anyone go past the allure of a crunchy Korean corn dog? Coated in your choice of panko, potato, cornflakes or crunchy ramen noodles, filled with gooey cheese and sausage and slathered in sauce… Well, if loving Krunchy is wrong, we don’t want to be right!

(And, just a couple of doors down, you can find Perth Kimchi: a store devoted to all things kimchi and banchan, and a must-visit for any local fermentation fiends!)

Phill Bean

The humble suburban shopping centre can be a treasure trove for hidden gems – and it’s definitely true for Phill Bean. This unpretentious Shelley eatery is dishing up some of Perth’s best bibimbap and bulgogi, with authentic flavours and an extremely palatable price tag. Make sure you leave enough room for a kimchi pancake!

Marubang Noodle & Pork

What’s in a name? Well, when it comes to Marubang Noodle & Pork, they let you know what they’re about from the get-go. Jokbal and bossam have the pork side of the equation covered – braised pork hock, belly, and trotters both balanced with fresh vegetables and chilli. Next-level pork lovers will go for the soondae, or Korean blood sausage, served with lettuce or in soup. Head upstairs and you’ll find yourself in BBQ heaven.

K Town

K Town is the perfect meeting place between quantity and quality, offering all-you-can-eat set barbecue menus at a quality suitable for more discerning diners. House-made kimchi, generous banchan and attentive service round out the experience. Plus, the courtyard is a super cute and cosy setting for your next date night or catch up.

Bulgogi BBQ

This unassuming Hay Street restaurant is the perfect spot for your next quick and easy after- work dinner. Charcoal grills impart that signature smokey barbecue flavour, which pairs well with their fresh and tasty banchan. Reasonable prices make Bulgogi BBQ great bang for your buck, too.

7grams Chicken Cafe

We’ve had an influx of Korean fried chicken spots over the past few years, and we’re not complaining. 7grams has quietly built a loyal following since opening in 2016 in North Perth, moving to their current Lake Street location back in 2020. For ultra crunch go for the original, but the spicy garlic or soy are pretty hard to pass up, too.
