Perth’s ‘Home To American Whiskey’, Varnish On King has been just that since 2013.
While their cocktail list is cool, lovers of fine American whiskey will find themselves returning time after time just to catch ‘em all.

Helvetica
Regularly heralded as Perth’s finest whiskey establishment, last time we checked their whiskey menu was a casual 18 pages long.
Their selection is sourced from around the world, and the best (and perhaps most dangerous part) is they offer Bottlekeep – purchase a bottle of your choice and they’ll keep in the cabinet for each visit!
Tucked down an alleyway in the CBD, it’s the top of any whiskey-lovers list.
Howard Lane, Perth
Alabama Song
If you prefer your whiskey with a little hair on its chest and the party fire in its eye, rock and roll into Alabama Song.
Specialising in whiskey and bourbon with a little slice of honky tonk on the side, live bands rock out behind the chicken wire, peanut shells line the floor and deep fried American classics fire out of the kitchen.
Open til late during the week, kick on downstairs at Joe’s Juice Joint if you’re really in for the long haul.

Goody Two’s
Home to Perth’s largest selection of Japanese whiskies, if you’re chasing a slice of Tokyo underground ‘after-work’ culture, Goody Two’s is your friend.
Their whiskey offerings are extensive and well-priced, and their bar snacks will help fuel you up before dancing to DJs late into the night.

Foxtrot Unicorn
If you like your drinks drenched in history, Foxtrot Unicorn in the CBD is the place to be.
Chesterfield couches, hundred-year-old WA surveyor maps and even vintage spirits await in this beautiful basement venue.
Their ethos is simple: “Good booze. Better times.”

Decanter
Like the best American bar right in the middle of Victoria Park, Decanter specialise in deep fried delights like Mac’n’cheese bacon balls, Jalapeno poppers, fried chicken sliders and more.
To help you cut through favourites like their 8-hour house-smoked ribs they’ve got a delicious cocktail selection to go with a fully-stocked bar of American-inspired spirits.

Whipper Snapper Distillery
Perth’s only whiskey distillery, Whipper Snapper is a hidden gem and worth wandering out of the CBD for.
Real aficionados can book in guided tours of their incredible East Perth facility, with the friendly owners always keen to chat their process over the warm wooden bar.

Sneaky Tony’s
You’ll need the special codeword to get into this hidden Chinatown speakeasy, but once you’re in it’s hard to leave.
While they specialise in rum (like over 300 bottles specialise), they’re all about fine spirits and they’ve got some great whiskey options.
Plus the friendly and knowledgeable bartenders will be able to sort you out with just about anything!
