For some reason it took a few years for the rooftop bar concept to really take hold in Perth, but our sunny skies and warm weather have made it a no-brainer, and provided us with plenty of new options to enjoy drinks with a view.
Here’s 10 of our favourites, from established early birds to a couple of new kids on the (top of the) block.
Hello Rooftop @ The Rechabite
The newest kid on the Northbridge rooftop bar block, The Rechabite’s top level Hello Rooftop Bar is the perfect capper on the Fringe-ified multi-story venue. What they lack in tap beers they more than make up for in cans, cocktails and colourful characters from whatever Fringe event is rocking the main hall. Make your way down to Double Rainbow when you start to get a little hungry.
224 William St, Northbridge
Rooftop At QT
If you’re looking for a little more sophistication when it comes to a rooftop drinking/dining experience, QT Hotel’s rooftop bar should do the trick. It’s open to the public and guests, so chuck on some shiny shoes to impress, while you’re impressed by the skyscraper-stacked views, fine wines and delicious dining. Oh and be ready for a cheeky boogie later on weekend nights thanks to the in-house DJs.
133 Murray St, Perth
When you name your bar after Australian icon Bob Hawke, you’ve got pint sculling-sized boots to fill. Luckily Bob’s above Print Hall in Brookfield Place is more than up to the task. It’s super relaxed and casual in what can sometimes feel like a stuffy part of town, with a ravishing range of burgers and pizzas to go with a killer craft beer selection and great happy hour deals to boot.

The National Hotel
The National Hotel’s triumphant return to the Fremantle pub scene was enhanced even further a few years ago following the opening of their rooftop bar. Offering incredible 360 views of glorious old Fremantle town, the port and coast, it doubles as a fantastic function space, and their small plates/grazing menu will save you the trip downstairs for a snack.
98 High St, Fremantle
Henry’s Rooftop @ The Reveley
If it’s stunning views of Perth’s pride and joy – Elizabeth Quay – you’re after than you’d be hard pressed to find a spot better than Henry’s Rooftop Bar, above The Reveley. While the Dining Room floor offers a more fine-dining experience, Henry’s keeps it pretty casual, with share plates perfect for a couple of sneaky after work cocktails, along with some live entertainment on the weekends.
The Towers at Elizabeth Quay, Eastern Promenade, Ophir Walk, Perth
Mechanics’ unparalleled al fresco dining area overlooking the hustle and bustle of Northbridge has been a safe and steady (but most-importantly fun) option for locals for years. Rawkus, cocktail-fuelled weekend nights makes way for lazy afternoons in the sun during the day, tempered further with a glorious Flipside burger and chips from down below.
222 William St, Northbridge
A constant on the rooftop bar scene for years now, the Aviary’s perch on the corner of William and Murray St has remained steady thanks to their ability to re-invent over the journey. It’s a nice, spread-out venue that can be spacious during the day and busy on weekend party nights. Their food menu is top shelf and always interesting, working well with a great bar selection that’ll have you chilling on the day beds or under an umbrella amidst the palm trees for hours.

Sweetwater Rooftop Bar
A popular food and drink spot for the east and north Freo set, this lusciously green rooftop bar’s Asian-inspired share plates pair well with a tasty cocktail selection and river views. They also do dangerous $10 Martinis everyday from 5-6pm, and Sundays is The Hanging Yum Cha 8-Course lunch special. With DJs on Fridays and Saturday nights along with Sunday arvos, vibes are high at Sweetwater.
Level 6/1 Silas St, East Fremantle
Tiki As FK
This little hole-in-the-wall along James St in Northbridge winds up into one of Perth’s best cocktail bars, offering Mad Men-style vibes and beautifully boozy beverage options. Its secret weapon is the glorious little rooftop bar above, offering perfect city views while you sip on some perfectly mixed booze thanks to the super friendly staff of legends.
91a James St, Northbridge
After humble beginnings as a sideshow to the Ice Cream Factory main event, Coconut Grove has become a powerhouse in its own right, comfortably being a Perth party destination in just a couple of years. It’s a huge venue, and their 100-person rooftop level bar comes with great views of Yagan Square and Perth city. With almost 20 different beers on tap, it’s the place to be for a boogie from 7 til late Fridays and Saturdays.
