Gitchie, gitchie, ya-ya, da-da!

In case you missed the exciting news, the first ever Australian-produced musical to win a Tony Award for Best Musical has made its way to Perth.

That’s right, Moulin Rouge! The Musical has danced and sung its way into Perth’s spectacular Crown Theatre for a huge run of shows – running until April 21 (with no extensions possible).

The 10-time Tony Award-winning musical has been wowing audiences around the globe, bringing beloved Aussie director Baz Luhrmann’s groundbreaking film to life on stage, remixed into a full-throttle musical mash-up extravaganza.

For a little sneak peek of what to expect, check out the vid below:

Most of our office has had the fortune of seeing it over the past week, and we gotta say it lived up to the hype and then some!

The show is a pure celebration of truth, beauty, freedom and love, directed by multi-award winner Alex Timbers, with a book by John Logan, music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine and choreography by Sonya Tayeh.

If you need anymore convincing as to just how impressive this show is, it also features 2km of hand painted red festoon lighting. 3,500 light bulbs and the famous blue elephant (over 5m tall and 220kgs), plus a further 12 large-scale chandeliers being hung in their new home at Crown Perth.

The show completely sold out in Melbourne and Sydney so we recommend getting your tickets to this strictly nine-week Perth season sooner rather than later, and a little hot tip for you: the best availability at the time of publishing is Wednesdays 1pm or Tuesday to Thursday 7.30pm.

The final tickets are on sale now via the Moulin Rouge! The Musical Website.
