For one week in June, Subiaco will become more stylish than ever with the return of its annual Style Series – and in 2022, we think there’s nothing more stylish than sustainability!

The immersive five day festival will explore just about every aspect of sustainable style – from diving into a panel discussion about the future of sustainability in fashion, interactive workshops or a curated vintage clothing market, find out which event is perfect for you by checking out what’s on offer below:

The Future of Sustainable Fashion with Industry Insiders

The program will kick off with a discussion between industry leaders, delving into what the future of sustainable fashion will look like. Held in the Subiaco Hotel’s Henry’s Loft, you’ll be treated to two hours of canapés and wine before the intriguing discussion – the panel will feature journalist Jerrie Demasi, Good Sammy CEO Kane Blackman, textile waste trailblazers Fibre Economy, plus co-founder of Second Life Markets Meg Charnaud. Even better, tickets are free!

When: Wednesday 22 June, 6pm-8pm
Where: Subiaco Hotel
Registration: HERE

Fibre Economy Exhibition RE: WASTE

Starting in 2019 as a conversation between friends about workwear waste in the mining industry, local startup Fibre Economy is now aiming for a world without textile waste. An exhibition will take over the windows of Good Sammy Subiaco, putting a spotlight on not only the extreme volume of landfill caused by textile waste, but also the ensuing water crisis. If this sparks your interest, Fibre Economy will also be presenting a discussion on fashion sustainability and the circular network they’ve created to try and tackle the problem.

When: Thursday 23 June, 6pm-8pm
Where: Dilly Dally
Tickets: HERE

Subiaco Style Series

Linen Tea Towel Eco-Printing Workshop

Subiaco designer and pattern-maker Tatiana Shkurenko works with some of Perth’s top designers, and this workshop will teach you how to transform your clothing and homewares with environmentally-friendly eco-printing techniques. Utilising native Eucalyptus leaves and flowers, you’ll try out these techniques on a 100% linen tea towel!

When: Friday 24 and Saturday 25 June, 2pm-4.30pm
Where: Subi Space
Tickets: HERE

Trash to Treasure: Upcycling with Fibre Economy

The legends at Fibre Economy will be hard at work for the week! As well as the exhibition and discussion panels, they’ll also be hosting an interactive workshop where you’ll repurpose post-consumer cargo pants into a nifty handbag – as well as learn tips for effectively donating your clothes, how to reduce your wardrobe’s footprint and other issues with textile waste.

When: Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June, 3pm-5pm
Where: Refuge Small Bar
Tickets: HERE

Second Life Markets: The Edit

We love digging through an op shop, but why not have someone do the hard yards for you? Hosted by Little Things Distillery, the Second Life Markets are back for another year, with a curated edit of some of Perth’s most impressive second-hand sellers. The market will be soundtracked by Ningaloo Records, and will feature brands like Cold Wave, Wright Systems and Object House – showing that shopping sustainably really is stylish.

When: Sunday 26 June, 10am-2pm
Where: Little Things Gin Distillery
