The Best Family-Friendly Activities To Do Around Cockburn
WA is pretty blessed with adventures for all – but you don’t have to explore the furthest reaches of the state’s wildest landscapes to get your dose of excitement. Keep it a little closer to home by choosing your own adventure in Cockburn.
Mere minutes from Perth’s CBD, you’ll find plenty of thrilling activities awaiting, whether you want to get your adrenaline pumping, appreciate the great outdoors… Or both!
Ride One Of The Planet’s Most Epic Waterslides At Adventure World
It’s practically a rite of passage for Perth locals to spend a day at Adventure World – and the park has plenty of excitement for every age. Are you brave enough to try the Kraken? Adventure World is home to the absolutely epic, longest, tallest and steepest funnel waterslide on the planet! Thrill seekers can also test themselves with a ride on the new, gargantuan pendulum swing ride Goliath – although there’s also the enchanting Dragon’s Kingdom and Hawaiian-inspired Kahuna Falls for younger ones (or scaredy cats!). Head to the Aussie Wildlife Experience to meet some locals, or relax and unwind amongst the meticulously landscaped gardens.
Visit Perth’s Very Own Winter Wonderland
OK, so you’ve spent a day splashing and soaking up the sun at Adventure World – where to next? A winter wonderland, of course! Perth’s premier ice skating facility, Cockburn Ice Arena is home to WA’s only Olympic-sized ice rink – chilled to a balmy 10°C! Glide your way onto the ice during one of their many public sessions, then make sure to warm up by the fire at Cabin 401 Bar & Grill while watching an ice hockey game and digging into a delicious bowl of Perth’s most legit poutine.
Dive Into A New World At The Coogee Maritime Trail
Adventure through the underwater at the Coogee Maritime Trail – the first of its kind in WA. The trail famously includes the Omeo Shipwreck: just 25 metres offshore, it’s Perth’s most accessible shipwreck snorkel site. The trail also features an underwater art trail with some of the area’s best diving and snorkelling, as well as a section above land to learn about WA’s maritime history and the aquatic life of the region.
