Sculpt & Skin by Amber Jasper
We don’t know about you, but we’re guilty of our fair share of not just winter overindulgence, but plenty of time spent hunched over laptops. We’re ready to feel loosey-goosey, relaxed and ready to take on the world! Luckily, a visit to Sculpt & Skin by Amber Jasper will have you feeling well and truly rejuvenated, whether you’re experiencing their signature Lymphatic Sculpture Facial Massage, or unwinding in their Turkish baths surrounded by lush greenery.

Build your new winter capsule wardrobe
The mercury dropping doesn’t have to equal a drop off in style. From stunning evening dresses for your next after-hours soiree to easy-to-wear basics, Mara Collective has something for every age and occasion. Moving into the Subi hood in just April of 2024, Chachi has already made a big impact with their thoughtfully curated selection of Australian and international brands, making sure your winter wardrobe has the perfect dose of coastal cool.
And whether you’re looking for an ethical approach to a wardrobe overhaul or you want to shop luxe brands for less, we think you’ll be tempted by the stunning stock at consignment boutique The Green Pear. While we love to get comfy and cosy, we still maintain our assertion that cold weather doesn’t mean you can’t stay stylish. From cuddling up on the couch to making sure that you’re put together for that coastal walk-coffee combo, Motion Lifestyle will kit you out with their impressive range of active and loungewear.
Truffle HQ by Below & Above Truffles
We’re in the thick of truffle season, and we’ll be honest… We can’t get enough! We’ve gone truffle-crazy trying to find the most deliciously truffle-y offerings around town – but why not go straight to the source? Situated between Pemberton and Manjimup, Below & Above’s truffière is a little far for a quick truffle pitstop… But their Subi Truffle HQ? Well, you’ll have to drag us outta there! Can’t get enough? Pop into Simon Johnson just down the road for even more truffle goodness.

Lady of Ro
Normally when we think of Greek food, we’re dreaming of Mediterranean summers with clear blue skies and clear blue seas – but winter with Lady of Ro’s chargrilled flavours will more than convince you of its comfort year-round. Pick up a bottle from boutique wine store Commune’s new Subi location on your way up Rokeby Road – and once you’ve finished feasting, head next door to neighbourhood watering hole Juanita’s for a cheeky nightcap.

Plus, you’ll be able to pair your sweets with some sips at Simon Johnson’s ultimate Chocolate and Whisky class on Thursday, August 22: you’ll learn the masterful techniques of local chocolatier Sue Lewis, and taste world-class single-origin Valrhona chocolate alongside whiskies from Moët Hennessey.

It’s red wine season!
We’ll take any excuse for a cheeky red wine or two, but the combo of cooler weather and the stylish surrounds of Cherubino City Cellar is more than enough to seal the deal. Tucked away at the back of Dilly Dally, Bar Loiter also tempts us to loiter a little longer, not just with their selection of red wine but their Italo-inspired snacks during aperitivo hour! Plus, the cute and cosy Lums’ $30 pasta and wine lunch special is enough to entice any devoted office worker away from their desk, surely?

Warm up with some Asian street food
There’s nothing like slurping up a spicy broth to warm your soul, and Wei’s Dumpling Hut’s fiery spicy braised beef noodle soup will definitely do the job. For less fiery flavours that are no less exciting, we love to stop past VSF for a restorative bowl of pho. Subi MCQ outpost Pavilion Fresh Market is one of our favourite spots to browse the aisles for a new snack obsession – but we have to save room for a banh mi or milk bread sando at the attached Saigon Alley.

Winter is a time of slowing down and lingering over long lunches – and there’s no better spot to watch the world go by than at Subi Continental. Perched on the corner of Rokeby and Roberts Roads, they’ve just launched a new bottomless long-table lunch every Saturday, which will have you feasting for hours with free-flowing drinks sure to delight.

Soak up some culture
Between the sipping, saunas and sweets… Why not inject a bit of culture into your visit?
Operating as an arts venue since 1984, Subiaco Arts Centre hosts a diverse range of local, interstate and international performing artists – ranging from comedy, theatrical productions, dance and much more. As well as this, the centre is home to leading Aboriginal performing arts organisation, Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company. If you aren’t able to catch the next show, the surrounding gardens make a great spot to soak up some sunshine or for kids to scramble over the nature play space.
The Regal Theatre’s well-preserved Art Deco architecture also makes the perfect spot to catch some comedy, live theatre or music – and if you show your ticket at rooftop restaurant Storehouse (one of the best views in Subi!) you’ll also cop a rather nice 25% discount on your meal.
Inspired by all this creativity? Unleash your own creative side with classes at Infi Art or Artigo Studio, two studios who are both committed to making art fun, relaxed and accessible to all. Still want to enjoy some cocktails with your culture? Some merlot with some music? Bark will sort you out on both fronts, with a delightful winter program that includes Jazz Wednesdays and Thursday Quiz Nights.
Venture further afield to Shenton Park
Just down the road and within the City of Subiaco, Shenton Park has plenty of leafy, neighbourhood spots just waiting to be discovered.
KiRi Japanese has been a long-time favourite for locals, and the intimate restaurant offers both a low-key takeaway menu alongside an impeccable omakase dine-in experience. Stop by charming Italian spot Bacco every Tuesday night for a $38 pasta and vino special that’ll knock your socks off, or soak up the winter sun during Mistelle’s Happy Hour on La Terrasse – a French Negroni or Pommery Champagne will only set you back $15 between 4-6PM!

Adventuring a little earlier in the day? Pick up a buttery pastry at Grain Bakery – or stop in at Strange Grains for some of the best gluten-free goodies you can get your hands on.
It ain’t all about the eating, though! Pick up a new winter knit in every colour at boutique Peachy, before relaxing, restoring and renewing within the tranquil surrounds of Kaarta Studio and their infrared saunas and ice baths.
