In a society filled with doom-scrolling and gloom-extolling, we could all use a little bit of laughter to lighten the load and help us remember that maybe it’s not. All. Bad…

Enter the Perth Comedy Festival, returning for a huge month of laughs from April 24-May 21 and featuring its biggest lineup ever, bolstered by the return of a raft of international comedy stars that we’ve missed over recent years.

They’re not mucking about either, with more than 65 shows to choose from taking place in some of our fave Perth venues including the Riverside Theatre, Perth Concert Hall and the Astor Theatre.

Just some of the international comedic heavyweights making their return to our shores include Ireland’s David O’Doherty (below); UK legends Dylan Moran, Stephen K Amos and Sarah Pascoe; Danny Bhoy and Daniel Sloss from Scotland; Ismo (Finland); Jason Leong (Malaysia) and Kumarsutra (Singapore).

The festival will also feature some much-anticipated debut performances from the likes of TikTok and Instagram phenom Troy Hawke from the UK; Lebanese/American comic and Middle East stand-up comedy pioneer NEMR; and award-winning, cult interactive show  Sh!tfaced Shakespeare (below), fresh from sell-out season in Edinburgh and London’s West End.

Of course homegrown talent is the bedrock of all the best comedy fests, and PCF’s national act list is off stacked with superstars like Wil Anderson (below); Charles Firth (The Chaser) and James Schloeffel (The Shovel) teaming up to present ‘Wankernomics’; viral sensation, musician, mental health advocate and master chef Nat’s What I Reckon; rudely hilarious Reuben Kaye; and Australian comedy king, Bob Downe.

Local legends will once again have a strong showing including Daniel Delby, EMO Majok, Fabian Woods and many more, with the fun not stopping at solo performances.

This year’s fest will also feature The Biggest Comedy Show on Earth – for those with a short attention span, it’s a huge line-up of comics performing short sets in a fast-paced showcase of non-stop laughs happening May 4-6 at Planet Royale and 11-13 and 18-20 at The Rechabite.

Plus there’s the PCF Showcase at Freo.Social May 4, 11 and 18; and finally the hugely popular Perth Comedy Festival Gala’s take over the Regal Theatre May 3, 10, and 17.
