Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed new production of Mary Poppins has been enchanting audiences at Perth’s Crown Theatre since September, but the magic will be leaving Australia soon!
Based on the beloved stories by PL Travers and the iconic original film, Mary Poppins the heartwarming tale revolves around the power of family and the boundless potential that resides within each of us.
It’s a timeless reminder of the enchanting magic of childhood, and an invitation to new generations to believe that anything is possible if they just embrace it.
The masterminds behind this production are none other than renowned theatrical impresario Cameron Mackintosh Academy Award-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, famous for his work on Downton Abbey.
And like a spoonful of sugar mixed with medicine, the duo have combined perfectly to create an extraordinary adaptation bringing the world’s favourite nanny to life in a truly spectacular stage production befitting of such a beloved work.
The original music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, including classics like Jolly Holiday, Step in Time, Feed the Birds, and of course, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, will transport the audience to a world filled with whimsy and wonder.
Adding to the magic will be Olivier award-winning British duo George Stiles and Anthony Drew, who have contributed new songs and additional music and lyrics, such as new classics like Practically Perfect and Anything Can Happen.
